TakeAction Minnesota's Justice 4 All program focuses on addressing the injustice in the criminal justice system. We believe that all people can change, that the justice system must serve and belong to all communities, and that the best path to public safety is to invest in people. We seek to change the emphasis of the justice system from a focus on prison, punishment, and being “tough on crime” to one of rehabilitation, civic engagement, and the reintegration of people with criminal records into our communities.
The Justice 4 All program is led by a core team of diverse leaders who have personally experienced the justice system. They are organizing others to build a powerful base and provide the training and support necessary to advocate on their own behalf for improvements in the justice system.
The Justice 4 All program launched its Fair Hiring Campaign in April 2011. The leader-led campaign is designed to change hiring practices that discriminate against those with a criminal record, preventing those with a record from rebuilding their lives. The campaign urges Minnesota employers, including 3M, Target and Best Buy, to remove questions about an applicant's criminal record from job applications and give all people an equal chance at being interviewed and hired.
