About the Hmong Organizing Program

"I'm investing my time and money in the Hmong Organizing Program because this program is the most exciting and powerful grassroots organizing I have seen in the Hmong community, and critical to growing Hmong political power in Minnesota."

Dai Thao, Leader in TakeAction's Hmong Organizing Program

“My involvement with TakeAction can be summed up in three words: challenging, rewarding, and powerful. I’ve seen myself grow as an individual, student, and leader.”

Zer Vang, Leader in TakeAction's Hmong Organizing Program

"My involvement in the Hmong Organizing Program gives me the courage to organize and build relationships to fulfill my passion for education equity."

Chong Lee, Leader in TakeAction's Hmong Organizing Program

Leaders of the Hmong Organizing Program are rallying to change matters that affect Minnesotans and Hmong around the world. We are building dynamic and effective coalitions by educating voters, winning issue campaigns, and by impacting state and local policies and policymakers. We envision a Minnesota dedicated to the principles of strong communities, democracy, and equal opportunity for all. To strengthen the Hmong community, we are engaged in the following issue work:

  1. Hmong Veterans Burial Benefits
  2. Hmong History Curriculum in the St. Paul Public Schools
  3. Light Rail on University Ave: Health Impact Assessment

LMAO? Tell KDWB Racism is Never Funny!

KDWB's Dave Ryan in the Morning Show recently aired a racist parody song mocking the Hmong community, followed by a weak apology taking no responsibility for their action.

TakeAction Minnesota's Hmong Organizing Program has been leading the charge to hold KDWB accountable for playing this song, asking that Steve (Steve-O) LaTart, the author of the song, be fired, that KDWB hold an on-air conversation with Hmong community leaders during the Morning Show to discuss racial stereotypes, racial disparities, and the harm caused by Morning Show personalities, and that they meet with Hmong leaders within two weeks to discuss these demands.
